A New Quarterback

Basically, you have taught me all I know about throwing a football. The first time I came to your camp I was throwing the ball nothing like a quarterback should throw. Then after the camp and a couple lessons, I feel like a whole new quarterback. I have sped up my delivery and release a ton; I am a lot more accurate; and I have a tight spiral which helps my receivers catch the ball easier. Also, you have taught me to incorporate my lower body into my throw. But, best of all, on every throw I can tell myself what I did wrong from what you taught me and correct it on the next throw.

Besides mechanics, you have also stressed that its not about us as individuals but about the team and to better yourself for the benefit of the team. Thank you for all your time and work. I look forward to working with you more next Summer.

Learned Better Techniques

I started playing football when I was 7 in the Oviedo Pop Warner program. I have always played QB, and my goal was to not only be the QB at Oviedo HS, but to play at the college level too. I signed with Colgate University(Division 1AA champions a year ago) to play for them this fall. I contribute a lot of my good fortune to you. By working with you on an individual basis, I learned better techniques which helped me perfect my QB skills. I will never forget you telling me, "to always be prepared when an opportunity presents itself." I was prepared and then given that opportunity as a sophomore to play varsity. I was fortunate enough to make the best of it and I will continue that same attitude at Colgate. Thanks for all your advice, Go Raiders!

Helped Me Tremendously

Coach Slack helped me tremendously throughout my high school years. Through his Quarterback Academy and 1 on 1 sessions, it helped me improve and critique my mechanics. Before I worked with Coach Slack I was a decent quarterback with an average arm. Being only about six foot, if that, I knew the only chance I had to go Division 1 would be for my mechanics to be perfect. Coach Slack taught me everything I know about how to be a great quarterback. Not only did he teach me the physical aspects one needs to be a great quarterback, but he also taught me that mentally. You must be 100% at all times. If it were not for Coach Slack I would not have been able to receive a chance to play college football.

Premier QB Coach In Nation

This is what I have to say about Coach Slack. After four years of Coach Slack's camps I can truly say that, to me, he is the premier QB coach in the nation. He goes over all aspects of the position in depth, and in a way that is very easy to comprehend. He will teach you mental toughness and how to be a leader on and off the field. Along with that he will teach you to throw a perfect ball, not only how but why as well, and he will show you how. I have been to many camps such as Alabama, Auburn, South Florida, and South Carolina and there is not one person at those schools that could teach me as well as Coach Slack. I am fully confident that what I learned at his camps gave me the training I needed to earn a full scholarship at Div. 1 University of Central Florida.(Coach Slack’s Alma Mater) I also received scholarship offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, and Penn State and without the confidence I gained from Coach Slack and the way he brought my abilities out of me, I would have never had those opportunities.

Teaches More Than Just How to Throw

Many people have influenced my life, but I have most recently learned from Darin Slack, my quarterback coach. Coach Slack taught me that it isn’t enough to be a good quarterback, I must also be a good leader. I admire him because he lives his life by the principles he believes in and has taught me. He refers to these principles as the four C’s: Confidence, Character, Commitment and Consistency. It all starts with Confidence.

Confidence means you have the ability and the maturity to do what is right even if it is not easy.

Character is the second “C”, which he refers to as the ability for each person to be a leader. Coach Slack taught me that leadership begins by making everyone else around me better. Being a leader is demonstrated in the ability to make good and well-informed decisions.

Third is Commitment, the determination to get up every morning and do what needs to get done whether you want to or not. It is the resolve to get it done anyway.

The last “C” is Consistency, which is simply applying these qualities to life every day or having them in every endeavor you undertake. I have listened to Coach Slack tell me how these principles have changed his life and those of many others. Since meeting Coach Slack, I have adopted these qualities for myself and hope I can lead others to do the same. Coach Slack told me I will not be judged by my accomplishments, but on my character and how I lead my life.

Given Me Confidence

I have been to many quarterback camps and have worked with many trainers, but none of them have been as good as you are. You have really given me confidence in my arm that I have never had. Yesterday I was throwing with one of my old receivers, who I would often under throw.(He won our state track championship). Now, after working with you, I can lead him perfectly without making him break stride.

I cannot thank you enough for working with me and my form. I've always felt like I was never getting as much power into the ball as I could. You have fixed me to where I can do that now. Before working with you, I could only throw the football close to fifty yards. Now, after just two workouts, I am throwing the football over sixty yards! You have given me the confidence that I needed as a college freshman to successfully play Division I football at the University of Louisville.

I just wish that I would have met you sooner in my life. From a personal note, I just want you to know what an impact that you and your family have made in my life. For this I will be eternally grateful. I will be keeping in touch with you, and will let you know how I'm doing at U of L. I plan on working hard and using the skills that you've taught me, so that some day, you will be proud of the work that you put into this quarterback. Good luck this season with your team and thanks again!

Unmatched By Anything

"Darin Slack's unique training regimen is unmatched by anything that I have ever done or seen. The immediate and long term changes that result because of his training are nothing short of amazing. The ball flight, rotation, and speed of delivery are unmatched, and the skills stick with you long after you work with him. Aside from the physical changes, the confidence that comes from understanding the skills acquired is enough to propel you through any athletic obstacle. I just wanted to say thank you so much, coach Slack, for all that you taught me. I have a new confidence that I did not before, and it will make all the difference this spring.
